Kratom Extract Vs. Powder: Understanding the Key Differences

Posted 2 years ago by Ian Shutts

Kratom is becoming a rising trend in the healthcare industry. With the scientific name ‘Mitragyna speciosa’, this herbal plant belongs to the coffee family and is majorly found in multiple South Asian countries, such as Thailand, Myanmar, Papua, and Indonesia. Residents of Southeast Asian regions have been using the plant for years to unwind from their stressful days and have a calming experience.

Though the herbal plant is not yet recognized by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) due to a lack of scientific evidence, many people use Kratom extract and Kratom powder to benefit from its therapeutic properties. However, many people still get confused between an extract and powder. Below, we talk about the key differences between the two.

What Is Kratom Extract?

Kratom extracts are concentrated forms of kratom powder. Though extracts can be made from Kratom leaves, majorly they develop through Kratom powder. Speaking of the process, kratom powder is boiled to take out the desired alkaloids (naturally occurring compounds) within the plant. The solution is boiled until very little moisture is present, and you get a dark paste.

This paste is then dried and converted into powder form. The key difference between an extract and powder is that an extract is in the pure form and is more potent. However, Kratom powder is less potent and does not include all the elements of the Kratom plant.

What Is Kratom Powder?

Kratom powder is known as the most basic form of the kratom plant. The leaves of the plant are harvested and dried. Later, the dried leaves are finely crushed into a powder form, which is then mixed into capsules, drinks, etc. Here, the boiling process is not involved, which plays a crucial role in extracting all the alkaloids of the plant. This is how Kratom powder is different from kratom extract.

Kratom Extract vs. Kratom Powder: What’s More Potent?

As per the available data, Kratom extract is fifteen times more potent than Kratom powder. It is because extracts include all the alkaloids of the plant. You need to consume a higher amount of powder to achieve the same wellness results that you get from Kratom extract. This is why people mostly get Kratom for sale as it’s high in demand and gets out of stock soon. If you are an experienced user, you would prefer the extract form. However, if you are a beginner, starting with a low dosage of Kratom powder is advised.

Safety

As mentioned earlier, Kratom extracts are more potent than powder, which could be a little overwhelming for a newbie. If you are new to Kratom, excessive use of extract and powder may have milder side effects. Experienced users build tolerance levels with time which does not really impact their bodies with any negative effects. So, it is advised to always start off your Kratom use with a low dosage and gradually increase it as per your desired effects.

Bottom Line

Kratom extract and Kratom extract both are widely used forms of Kratom to get the medical effects such as pain relief, anxiety, depression, etc. If you have any doubts about Kratom use, do not hesitate to consult your primary doctor.
